This site was created as a reference for cadets, officers, and anyone interested in aerospace education. In the early years of the 21st century, America's aerospace industry is facing some tough challenges. Experienced aerospace industry workers are aging, averaging over 50 years of age. Meanwhile, the number of college graduates with science and engineering degrees going into aerospace careers is declining significantly. Likewise, according to 2006 year-end statistics released by the FAA, the number of pilot certificates in the U.S. dropped below 600,000 with the average pilot being over 45 years of age. The average student pilot age is 34. This decline occurred despite an aggressive campaign to attract more people to flying. The talent base is dwindling. What can America do?
